The Learn to Skate (LTS) program is targeted for children two years of age and older with limited or no skating experience. Basic skating skills are taught in a fun-filled environment. Sessions are lead by a professional skating instructor with other on-ice helpers. Skating skills taught range from learning to stand and balance, going forwards and backwards, stopping and turning. Games and small group instruction are used as part of the sessions. Athletes are broken into two or three groups of similar ability to ensure proper skill progression.
Skating lessons are 50 minutes long. A jersey is provided. All skaters must wear a CSA approved helmet with cage, skates, and gloves (ski mitts or gloves are acceptable). Shin or knee pads and elbow pads are highly recommended.
Season is comprised of 20 sessions starting October and finishing March 25.
Program runs Mondays 5:00 PM to 5:50 PM and 6:00PM to 6:50 PM @ Allendale Recreation Centre
