Southern Region Provincial (U12P/U14-U19A/AA) Tryout Process and Player Intent 2020-21 season

Southern Region Ringette Association is continuing with the same registration process as last year so as to standardize the Provincial Tryout format.

The new process is meant to enhance player declaration, team tryout and the team selection process. This process should facilitate informed communication between Southern Region and its Member Associations. It should help to identify potential conflicts so that they can be dealt with in a timely and mutually respectful manner, allowing the process to move along to completion.

Below is the summary identifying the changes. Some of the new steps are the responsibility of our Association, and others are that of the player/parent. Please make sure you understand the new procedure and timelines.

    1. Association “Declaration” that they are willing to host-specific teams (forms completed and submitted by the Association to SRRA).  In order to declare this, the association must meet the minimum requirements for home and current association players, as established by the Southern Region for the relevant levels and age divisions.  The SRRA Evaluation Committee may review the “declaration” and if the minimum requirements are not deemed to be met they may not be able to host the team(s) in question.

    2. Player “Intent” forms.  All players who intend to try out for any provincial teams must complete the Player Tryout Intent Form, by the SRRA deadline of June 10th.  Players who have NOT completed the intent form will not be permitted to attend tryouts.  Late intent forms (e.g. after June 10th) can only be submitted to SRRA by the player’s home association president.

    3. Obtain signed Player Tryout Release forms for all out of association tryouts you intend to attend (ie: one for each is needed).  The Association President (or a designate on BDRA Executive) can sign.

    4. All “intent” information will be posted online on the SRRA website (ie: it will be public).  This allows all associations to see the number of “at age” players who intend to try out for their age-appropriate level.

    5. Once the tryouts begin across the region, the sheet will show which players went to each tryout session held in ALL associations intending to host provincial teams in SRRA.  The spreadsheet will be updated within 24 hours of each tryout session in any/all associations and will show if any players have been offered spots or have been released after each tryout.

    6. If there is insufficient player attendance at a given team tryout session, either the Association or the SRRA Evaluation Committee can recommend that the team fold and the tryout process be discontinued, even if it has already begun.

    7. Similar to previous years, and based on LTAD requirements, the U12P team will not be formed until the fall.

All details of the new process and any of the required forms are posted to the SRRA Website: SRRA Try Out Process

BDRA intends to ice the following teams: U12P, U14A, U16A,
Note: All teams are subject to SRRA Evaluation Committee approval
Note: If there is an insufficient talent to form a team at the indicated level, the intent will be to ice the next lower level team

Every player (regardless of what association) also needs to fill out the BDRA Tryouts Registration Form when the dates are announced.
This is in addition to the SRRA Intent Form.
